(Woodbridge, VA) – Del. Jennifer Carroll Foy released the following statement on the tentative labor agreement between United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 2069 and Volvo Trucks.
“I’m glad that UAW and Volvo Trucks came to an agreement today. A strike shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place – workers shouldn’t have to demand to be heard and respected. But today’s victory for workers is something to celebrate. I was proud to voice my support for UAW workers during this action, and remain disappointed that my opponents were silent when it came to having UAW workers’ backs during this critical moment. Unions are critical in the fight to ensure working Virginians are compensated fairly and treated with dignity.
“I know what it’s like to scrape by to make ends meet. That’s why I’ll always stand with workers and unions as governor, and it will be my top priority to not just protect workers rights, but expand them.”
Carroll Foy and her campaign offered her support for UAW Local 2069 workers on strike against Volvo Trucks multiple times, with the campaign recently visiting the workers on strike.
