(Woodbridge, VA) – Today, Jennifer Carroll Foy released a statement following last night’s shootings in Atlanta, Georgia on the harrowing rise in violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic:
“Like many Virginians, I am devastated by the news of the shootings in Georgia last night, and am heartbroken for and grieving with every one of the victims and their families.”
“It’s clear that members of our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities have faced an appalling and unacceptable increase in violence and harassment since the beginning of this pandemic, and it is on us as leaders, neighbors, and Americans to loudly condemn hatred and violence in every form. There is no room for the bigotry that too many have suffered in our Commonwealth and our country, and it is our responsibility to work together to continue the difficult but necessary fight against injustice and intolerance.”
